As one of the current Notes users and being a designer at the same time, I can see why things are designed in a certain way while realizing there are existing pain points in the user experience, that could be redesigned. It was challenging to find the balance between user behaviors and innovating a solution that’s self-explanatory, but it was fun by taking on the challenge, speaking to multiple people, and going through the process of user testing.
The proudest thing is I gradually found the best solution to fill in the gap, and even inspired by interviewees to push further and come up with additional solutions. The redesigned Notes was able to be presented seamlessly as an Apple product by adapting the existing UI and interaction patterns.
